Jesus made it very clear that we were to make disciples. My ministry is called Discipled Fisher’men and it is centered around Matthew 4:19  (Jesus’ calling of the first four disciples that were, oddly enough, fishermen and Luke 5:3 ( Jesus gets into a boat and begins preaching to the people while on the water then afterwards tells Peter to push them out in deeper water to fish. In doing so they were blessed in an abundant catch so much so that they had to call their partners out to help!). We want to get people in the beautiful outdoors to share God’s creation, the love of Jesus, and our passion for fishing, and hunting in God's glorious creation.

Thanks and God bless,

Chris Forsythe

Our hearts are to share the outdoors and the Creator with others in the midst of a fallen world.  My name is Chris Forsythe and I founded Discipled Fisher’Men back in 2012. I grew up in Northwest Louisiana and spent most of my time in the outdoors. I've worked fulltime as lead machinist for 30+ years and I am also a licensed Texas fishing guide. Even before I was able to walk, I had a passion for fishing and hunting. I was saved at the age of 15, but without discipleship and the deeper knowledge of what a true relationship with God was through Holy Spirit, religion eventually pushed me away. Only after my addiction to tournament fishing, several failed marriages, and coming to the end of my rope with thoughts of suicide did I finally meet the Living God. Through my relationship with Jesus, I was once again able to really see the beauty of God's Creation revealed by Holy Spirit. I also came to realize that Discipled Fisher'Men is a way of life more than an actual ministry.

He eventually brought a beautiful lady in my life that was after His own heart and one who also went through and overcame the stigma and bondage of religion. We found that we went to the same high school, knew some of the same friends, went to the same place of worship and ran the same "circles" in ministry. The downside was, SHE WAS NOT A BASS FISHER! (LOL) Oh how that changed when she caught her first fish which turned out to be a good 5lber. She was hooked!  The girl

has caught quite a few big fish that would make

many guys jealous! She quickly jumped in

and fished her first pro lady's tournament as a

co-angler with The Lady Bass Anglers Assoc. (LBAA)

which I have been involved in and volunteered for

quite a few years. Out of a love for The Father and

Kim's growing love for the sport of fishing, what

started out as friends and team partners spending a

lot of time on the water, ended up being team partners in marriage.

Being a light to others is just a part of our life and what God calls us to do as disciples and His children.  It's only through true relationship that religion can be extinguished. Religion has kept many out of organized places of worship due to a pharisaical mindset, unfortunately, leaving many feeling judged or looked down on, not loved or a genuine concern for their salvation, deliverance and healing in which Jesus never taught. Only through relationship, engaging with those outside our normal comfort zone and GOD tugging at hearts and drawing them to Jesus, not oneself or a manmade prayer can anyone be changed or saved. That's why we have to be like Jesus and go out among the people to even show His love to others. Being in the woods or on the water, in my mind, are the best places to experience the greatness of the Creator and the beauty of His creation which can bring unsurpassed peace and joy! It brings us so many opportunities out in the world to meet people, fellowship, show the love of Jesus and pray for so many different situations.
